Finalists presented with final plaques by UEFA
Three weeks before the UEFA Champions League Final the two finalists were presented with plaques commemorating the prestigious final by the European governing body UEFA in Gelsenkirchen.
At the ceremony, which took place in the Arena AufSchalke, Jacob Erel, director of competition operations at UEFA, presented the plaques to FC Porto's Diogo Paiva Brandão and Pierre Uboldi of AS Monaco. A further plaque was presented to Schalke board member Peter Peters.
This initial meeting of the two finalists was arranged to enable additional organisational details for the final to be discussed. Agenda items included the security concept, arrival routes for fans and ticket allocations. As at Schalke home games, payment in the stadium is by chipcard only. Tickets are non-transferable and also serve as cashless payment cards for food and drinks.
