Real Madrid top the European table
With eleven triumphs to their name record Spanish champions Real Madrid continue to dominate the rankings of clubs that have won a European club trophy. The 'Galacticos' have won the European Champions Cup/Champions League on nine occasions to date (1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1966, 1998, 2000 and 2002) and the UEFA Cup twice (1985, 1986).
In second place are AC Milan, who last year became European champions for the sixth time after beating Juventus in the final of the UEFA Champions League, thus relegating Barcelona to third place in the rankings.
Germany's most successful club are Bayern Munich, who have won the European Champions Cup (1974, 1975 and 1976) and the Champions League (2001) four times, the European Cup Winners Cup once (1967) and the UEFA Cup once (1996).
Incidentally, only four clubs - Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern and Juventus - have won all three European competitions at least once.
